§ 01

What BitClout Wallet is

BitClout Wallet is a free, open-source, self-custody desktop application for managing crypto assets across multiple blockchains. We don't run a custodial service. We don't hold your funds. There is no account to log in to. Everything described in these Terms refers to the software you download and run on your own machine.

§ 02

Self-custody · no recovery

Your seed phrase is generated and stored on your device only. We never see it. We can't reset it, recover it or restore lost funds. If you lose your seed, your assets are gone forever. If someone else gets your seed, they can drain every connected chain in seconds. Treat it like the master key to a vault, because that's what it is.

§ 03

No warranty

The software is provided 'AS IS', without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The authors and contributors disclaim all warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Crypto is volatile and experimental. You may lose 100% of any value you put on-chain, through bugs, market movement, your own mistakes or attacks.

§ 04

Acceptable use

Don't use BitClout Wallet to launder money, finance terrorism, evade sanctions, or do anything that's illegal where you live. We can't enforce this, but a court can. Compliance with local law is your responsibility. We block IP ranges from comprehensively sanctioned jurisdictions where required.

§ 05

Open-source license

BitClout Wallet is released under the MIT license. You may inspect, modify, fork or redistribute the code under those terms. The MIT license is reproduced in full in the source repository.

§ 06

Third-party services

When you sign a transaction, broadcast it, or fetch a token price, the wallet may talk to third-party RPC nodes, block explorers, swap aggregators or NFT marketplaces. Those services have their own terms. We don't control them and we're not responsible for their behavior.

§ 07

Updates and breaking changes

We ship roughly one release per month. Breaking changes, when they happen, are announced at least one full release in advance and documented in the changelog. You're free to stay on an older version, but unsupported builds may stop working with newer chain forks.

§ 08

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the contributors and maintainers shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary or consequential damages arising from your use of the software. This includes lost profits, lost data, lost funds and lost opportunity.

§ 09

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the changelog and dated below. Continued use of the software after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

§ 10

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the British Virgin Islands, where the maintainer entity is registered. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be settled by binding arbitration under BVI IAC rules.
